Wow, I’ve gotten behind on posting photos again! I just recently spent 10 days in La Ventana, Baja California for the 2010 La Ventana Classic and KiteXpo. This is an annual kiteboarding event that raises money for the local schools. I had a great time down there, and came home with over 40 GB of images! Especially interesting was the Burning Bush, a giant party in the middle of the desert where they set stuff on fire and shoot flames into the sky!

In early summer, Robin and I will be chaperones on another three-week study abroad trip to Ireland and the United Kingdom. I’ve set up another blog that will have a ton of info about the trip as the dates approach, and we will also be posting to it while on the trip. Yes, I was back in Baja again, this time with the crew from CaliKites, a kiteboarding shop based in Coronado, California. They rented a huge bus, filled it with 50 kiteboarders, and took over the Desert Inn (formerly La Pinta) hotel on the beach in San Quintin. Madness ensued. Robin and I made a quick trip down to San Quintin, Baja last month. San Quintin is an excellent place to get away from the stress of Southern California life and, as the locals complain non-stop about the never-ending wind, is a perfect place to get some kiteboarding in. On this trip, the wind didn’t cooperate as usual, so we mainly just relaxed and decompressed for a weekend.

Last week, I was lucky enough to find myself on a press trip to Aruba with a group of travel writers who were going to learn how to kiteboard while on the island. I had a great time over there and met a ton of great people. The license plates on Aruba say ONE HAPPY ISLAND, and they mean it. Check out the photos at http://www.paullangphotography.com/aruba

This is a photo from my trip to Europe I did this last spring that I thought I’d post. It was taken just down the street and I thought it was an angle not seen very often of the famous monument.

Since Robin and I had found ourselves in Northern California for the Thanksgiving holiday, we decided to take a few days and drive back south on the coast, a drive we had always wanted to do, but had never found the time to do. Read more and see many more photos at the link below.

Robin and I drove up to Northern California for Thanksgiving and used the opportunity to drive back home on the famous coastal road of California Highway One. The drive was absolutely beautiful and we scored amazing weather except for a little fog on one section near Fort Brag. I’ll post a few more pictures from the trip sometime this weekend.

My parents bought a beautiful 1959 Owens Flagship a few months ago and I ended up helping them do a little work to it while I was visiting. They needed to have a survey done in order to get insurance, so I moved the boat from Vallejo up to the Napa Valley Marina. The surveyor found a bunch of minor problems, so we spent the weekend doing repairs and repainting the bottom.
The cruise from Vallejo only took about an hour, and there are so few boats along the way that I was conviced that I was going the wrong way. The Napa River is lined with a number of houses, some big and new and some small and old, all of which have docks in front of them. I felt like an old moviestar putting by in the classic wooden boat.
