For the July 4th fireworks, we walked up the hill a little ways behind our house in Point Loma to get a nice view of the fireworks. We found a nice little overlook that we had all to ourselves, and the clouds stayed high enough to not interfere with the show.
Check out this new Billboard that just went up in the Mission Beach Neighborhood of San Diego. It’s for the Mission Bay Aquatic Center and features a photo I took while riding in a tube behind a Correct Craft Nautique.
I just recently spent a few more days down in Baja, getting photos and doing a little riding myself.
Here’s what every windsurfer or kiteboarder that rides waves looks for:

If the road gets too rough, just make another:

Good times had by all:

I swam out with my camera yesterday at Tourmoline in San Diego to grab a few pictures of Corky Cullen on his new Cabrinha gear. Even though it was an average San Diego day (light wind, not much surf), Corky was still killing it.
Everything here done with a Canon 50D and Tokina 10-17 in an SPL housing.

Wow, I’ve gotten behind on posting photos again! I just recently spent 10 days in La Ventana, Baja California for the 2010 La Ventana Classic and KiteXpo. This is an annual kiteboarding event that raises money for the local schools. I had a great time down there, and came home with over 40 GB of images! Especially interesting was the Burning Bush, a giant party in the middle of the desert where they set stuff on fire and shoot flames into the sky!

Last night was the annual Ocean Beach Christmas Parade here in San Diego. Always a good/interesting time in OB! All images shot with a Canon 50D at ISO 1600-2000.

In early summer, Robin and I will be chaperones on another three-week study abroad trip to Ireland and the United Kingdom. I’ve set up another blog that will have a ton of info about the trip as the dates approach, and we will also be posting to it while on the trip. A few days ago I interviewed Gavin McClurg from the Best Offshore Odyssey. Gavin is the captain of the Discovery, a Lagoon 60 Catamaran that is three years into a five-year circumnavigation. A lot of people have done circumnavigations before, but the Best Offshore Odyssey is exploring off-the-map places for their kiteboarding potential. To date, they have discovered close to 100 kiteboarding spots that were previously unridden. You can check them out at http://www.offshoreodysseys.com/

On Friday, I headed down to the Ocean Beach Pier in San Diego to take a few pictures of the large waves. It was high tide when I got there and waves were hitting the bottom of the pier. I shot from the pier for a few minutes before the lifeguards chased everyone off and closed it down.
